Here are some shots that I took on my camping trip a couple weeks ago. Most of these were from the Sleeping Bear Dunes on Lake Michigan, but the last shot was from Traverse City. So, without further ado, the first shot.
This one is UP the dune climb-pretty steep and pure sand. Kind of a pain, but fun.
The next shot, fittingly, is from the top! Edited mildly to have more color definition.
This was taken from the top of the dune climb and edited to give the colors more weight.
Here is Glen Lake, taken from the Scenic Drive near the dune climb.
This tree was also on the scenic drive. The twists and turns of the exposed roots were really cool, I thought.
This is probably a somewhat cliche picture, but I like it anyway. I could see this being in a secluded area (of course it’s not). I like the implied loneliness.
This panoramic was composed with 4 separate shots, and the colors were brought out a little more. I like the fact that the lake and the dunes and the forest all made it in to the panoramic; it provides a nice contrast.
And finally, the sunset over Grand Traverse Bay. This was our last night in Traverse City. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to get my tripod set up, so getting multiple exposures for different areas of the photo didn’t turn out the way it would have, so this was the best I could get. I do, however, like the blue in the sky and the orange right above the sun.
And so concludes this post. I have some other pictures that are a little older but that I like very much; those should be making their way out soon. So, until next time, happy shooting!
